I had no idea what Reiki was. But I remember the first time I came into contact with Bonnie, and the second time, and there were those first healing sessions. They were not always easy, mind you, sometimes very difficult, but somehow later in the day, or week, or month, I knew there was a change; things were happening to me, good things, healing things. I'll try to make a long story short here, but basically I have been dealing with Thyroid cancer since 2004. I had my third operation April 1st of this year. All of my surgeries have been in my neck, where tumors and cancerous lymph nodes have shown up. I was scheduled to start radiation in June of this year. Backtracking, when I had a Reiki session with Bonnie in January of 2010, there was a spot in the center of my chest where Bonnie's hand was drawn to for quite a few minutes. It was very hot while she was touching it. The heat was very bearable, but so abnormally hot that I even told her about it. I was a little confused because I figured if that was going to happen anywhere, it would be my neck where I have had recurring problems. Well, basically before I started radiation in June, my oncologist wanted a PET scan done to see if there was anything else in me that wouldn't show up in a CAT scan so he could make sure he was targeting the right areas. My insurance would not approve the scan at first because it is very expensive and they need justification to do so. My oncologist fought with my insurance company for two weeks before they finally approved the PET scan. So I had the scan at the end of May. Well, they found a cancerous lymph node that without the scan they never would have seen and it was EXACTLY where Bonnie's hands were and where I was experiencing the extreme heat!! So, in late July of this year I had to go to the University of Pennsylvania and get my chest cut open to have the tumor removed. Now, I will start radiation this week and hopefully this will be the end. I just wanted to say that Bonnie found this tumor before anyone else did and I'm so grateful that my doctor followed up the way he did and caught it also! Thank you, Bonnie, for doing what you do and helping people.....

I began Reiki with Bonnie 2 1/2 years ago seeking counseling about personal and family matters. I looked forward to Reiki as a relaxation technique following such sessions. Little did I know what I was in for! Reiki has released so many old tensions, fears, and emotional blockages. At Bonnie's coaxing I took the Reiki I, Reiki II and ART (Advanced Reiki Training) courses. If I've learned one thing it is that growth is an ongoing never-ending process. I do think the wonders of this energy altering and life altering technique will never stop.

Perhaps the most incredible alteration to date has been my realization that my "head talk" has changed dramatically. The negativity due to worries of personal inadequacies, fear of rejection, and fear of ultimate personal failure has all given way to joyful, very positive, non-judgmental "headtalk". This is a much better way to spend time with myself! It also provides the courage and curiosity to explore deeper realms of myself.

I remember attending the "surrender" workshop in the spring (2009) and then bringing Delenn (my daugter) to a children's circle several weeks later. Personally I usually see immediate "results" from Reiki, so I thought (for whatever reason) Delenn just could not be reached (even though I KNOW that's never true!). I never put much thought into it and time went on. We found a new doctor (again) and things didn't change much. During the summer though, somewhere, somehow, Delenn's doctor made a huge impact on Delenn and our entire family. It seemed impossible at first but little by little we actually managed to stop her obsessive-compulsive behavior! He calls it "behavioral therapy" (I call it extreme parenting---like bungee jumping but a little scarier!), but it has worked wonders for all of us. Delenn is acting like her old self again, happy and giggling all the time (never stops talking) and her eyes are bright again, full of excitement for what the day holds. Most of all I've learned how to be a better mom. Looking back I can't help but wonder "when did this happen?"... And then I thought back to the Reiki workshop and letting go of my controlling behavior towards others. Letting go and letting things play out was an impossible task for me. I had a very profound experience in your workshop and it overwhelmed me how emotionally I was attached to controlling everything. Surrendering my control issues has given me a refreshing outlook on my life and it has helped my daughter surrender her issues as well since this aspect of our human experience is now cleared. I know now that all of our successes in the last several months can all be attributed to you, Bonnie, and the wonderful "services" you facilitate. Thank you for helping me help myself and create a happy environment and happy relationship with my daughter again. I will be forever grateful.

I started bringing my 5 year old to the Reiki Children's Circle months ago for his emotional well-being. He was having a hard and stressful time with our living situation, and couldn't express his emotions in a healthy way. He was prone to outbursts and tantrums that seemed to come from nowhere. It was heart-breaking to watch because I could only imagine how he felt on the inside to be acting that way on the outside.

At first, I didn't notice any drastic changes in his behavior. After a few months though, I started to notice small things. Now, he seems to be back to the happy little boy that I always knew was in there trying to come out. Tantrums are few and far between, and he is more cooperative with our rules. He thinks about how his actions affect those around him and is much more sweet and loving. I believe most of this has to do with the wonderful healing powers of Reiki. It has been such a blessing to have found them! I believe it has changed our lives. My son loves coming to Bonnie's and the atmosphere is very inviting and relaxed. Everyone is always very friendly with us, and my son feels like the star of the show.

Not only has it helped my son, but I have benefited from it too. I feel calmed and refreshed with every session. My husband and I have been trying to have another baby for 2 years with no luck, but now I am 5 months pregnant and doing great! I honestly feel in my heart that Reiki has helped me to release blockages so I was able to conceive. We are a happier family all the way around thanks to Bonnie and her Reiki practice.

When I first met Bonnie,I was living in a constant underlyin state of panic. I had been in therapy off and on for years. I had come a long way, but my self-esteem was still very low and I felt as if I would live the rest of my life in survival mode, beating myself up for not meeting my own perfectionist standards. I saw myself as a victim and I didn't think that would ever change.

I began attending Bonnie's Healing Circles and right away I noticed a dramatic change. I was beginning to live more in the moment and notice the world around me. I began to be aware of my fears and was more and more able to let them dissipate and become calm. The energy healing seemed to be helping me at such a faster rate than therapy, so I began to take Bonnie's Reiki classes so I could use Reiki on myself.

I recently received the Reiki Master level attunement and feel better than I have ever felt. I now feel empowered, strong and able to handle anything that comes my way. My relationships have improved and deepened tremendously and I no longer judge myself and others harshly. In May of 2007 I went to the place for Reiki to see if Bonnie could help me with a 54 year smoking addiction. After the 1st three sessions I didn't feel that anything had happened and the 4th visit seemed to be the same. After I returned home that night I was sitting on my front porch smoking and suddenly a strong feeling came over me that I did not want to do this anymore. I put out my cigarette and have not smoked now for 2 1/2 months. My breathing has improved and my energy level is up. I have since gone on to become a Reiki II practitioner. One day, seemingly out of nowhere, I developed extreme pain in my hip. The pain was constant and worsened with movement. I came to Reiki by chance- or was it? A neighbor told me about a street fair where a Reiki practitioner was giving mini Reiki sessions. I had heard of Reiki and was curious so I stopped by. It was the end of the day and Bonnie was getting ready to leave, but stayed to do a session for me. I had a little skepticism and no particular expectations; but an instant connection was made with Bonnie and Reiki and I was drawn to know more. It has changed my life. I met Bonnie Hassan in January 2004 during a time when I was having some health problems. Bonnie's outgoing personality and confidence in herself and in the gift of Reiki was an attracting magnet for me. I enrolled in several of her classes and was impressed by her knowledge, understanding and gift to teach Reiki. I have been diagnosed with bipolar for almost three years now and have been living with it and coping with it all my life. Because bipolar is an illness that does not go away, I will continue to live and cope with it.

In the fall of 2003 I was hospitalized and put on medication. When that didn't make me feel better, I was put on another. When that didn't work, I was put on another and so on. Being medicated did not solve my problems and did nothing with my feelings. Overall, I felt worse and even more suicidal.

After coming out of partial hospitalization, my Mom and I decided to try and find other options for mental health therapy. It was a year after I was hospitalized when my Mom began researching Reiki for us to try. She first met Bonnie at a rotary meeting where Bonnie was speaking. We scheduled an appointment. I had read some about Reiki on the computer and found it somewhat odd. I was a little reluctant to try it at first but I knew I needed help and decided to go through with it, even though I didn't really know what was going to happen.

My Mom and I met Bonnie and she was nice and friendly. I filled out a one-page form about my medication and why I came. She explained to my mom and I what was going to happen and what would happen after words. When I walked into the room with her table, she explained the different crystals and music. Our session started and I was instantly smiling, something I felt like I hadn't done in a long time. Our session ended and I felt relieved of my built up anxiety, content, and like my soul was renewed. I was very glad I came. Bonnie warned me about "bad" symptoms in the next 21 days such as moodiness, depression, & getting sick, but the first time I did not experience these symptoms (the second and the third was a slight depression that passed within two weeks). Within a couple months, I stopped taking my dreaded medication. I go back to The Place for Reiki every few months for sessions. My Mom attends Reiki classes in hopes that someday she will be a Master. Overall, Reiki has improved my mood and anxiety. However, the few symptoms that can follow within 21 days can make it difficult to see any improvement sometimes and can get frustrating. I believe that Reiki is a good therapy choice for everyone and recommend it highly.

I began attending Reiki sessions with Bonnie for the stress reduction and relaxation aspects of them. Reiki became a great tool to help me calm down and release stresses I did not even know I was holding onto. After about 9 months of receiving Reiki sessions I was intrigued enough to learn how to perform Reiki from Bonnie. My wife Wendy introduced me to Reiki, and I have been a Reiki practitioner since May 15, 2004, when I received my Reiki I certificate. Since then I have attended Reiki sessions, which are very powerful and relaxing. You can feel the energy. I have been to sessions and heard other Reiki practitioners say before the session that they had a headache or pain in their shoulder, but after the session, it was gone. If I have a headache or neck ache, I do Reiki on myself to relieve the pain.

I am a retired, but drive a school bus part time and the students o my bus were very noicy and cussed a lot every day. These students were removed from the public school district and sent to a special school that handled misbehaved kids. I am talking about middle and high school students. One morning I decided to do Reiki on my bus to get rid of the negative energy and that morning I couldn't believe my ears! The students were very quiet all the way to school. A coincidence? Reiki is a powerful tool and very relaxing.

At the present I am an Advanced Reiki Practitioner and some day I would like to be a Reiki Master. What I get out of Reiki is the peacefulness, relaxation, and most of all the comfort, of being able to help others, with the gift given to me by God through my Reiki Guide, spiritual guides and angels.

Bonnie has been my practitioner/teacher for close to 4 years now......the door that she has opened for me has been both rewarding and enlightening.....

2 years ago I had a house fire. I lost everything including my beloved pets.....for over a year I had much difficulty accepting all my losses and had difficulties finding peace. About 6 months ago, I came to her for a reiki session and a class to look for peace and to heal. I also took the ART and Masters class with her that weekend as well. By the end of that weekend I knew there were no survivors, I knew that they were all in a very peaceful place....and ironically enough doing well. I registered to study Reiki I with Bonnie Hassan at the Place for Reiki and was relieved that I could complete that level training within one day. I might not have been able to take the course had it taken two days as other masters teach. There was continuity and completeness about the day and I felt very connected to the other students.

The attunement at the end of the day was a glorious blast of affirming and opening up energy.
